New Ally Perks Mean More Ways to Get Money Back

Debit card rewards were hard to come by in 2011. In 2010,  30% of banks got rid of their debit card rewards programs, according to Bankrate.com’s 2011 Debit Card Rewards Survey. And experts are expecting remaining programs to get less generous with their rewards.

But in 2011, we introduced our own debit rewards program, Ally Perks. Instead of points, our Interest Checking account customers get money back whenever they make a qualifying purchase use their Ally debit card at any participating retailers. Best of all, it’s easy to use and comes with no monthly maintenance fees.

@amandalz took to Twitter to let the world know about her Perks Deal: “W/@AllyBank I get $2 back each time I buy a $10 movie ticket. I like it!”

Not to be outdone, fellow Ally Bank customer @joshuadelung tweeted back, “Oh yeah? Well I got Panera Bread $ back!”

Perks is constantly updated with new deals, meaning it’s easy to get money back when you shop at your favorite stores. For a limited time, you can get money back when you shop at these retailers.

Ally Perks

New Perks offers are always rolling in, so be sure to subscribe to our weekly Ally Perks email for details on where you can collect Perks money. Just log on to your AllyBank.com account and go to Ally Perks > Preferences. You can also always find the latest Perks at Ally Perks > Current Offers.

Have you received Ally Perks money for using your debit card at a participating retailer? What other retailers would you like to see added to Ally Perks?

I used my Ally debit card to buy my husband a present at Gamestop on Black Friday. The manager actually made us a really great offer, then I was pleasantly surprised to see I also got $5 back from Ally. :)

Is the perks program still going on? When I log into my account and go to “Ally Perks” I don’t see anything in the “Current Offers” section. I also entered in my zip codes, so I’m thinking that there should be some national offers even if there aren’t any local ones right now.

And are the perks just something that happen off and on? Trying to understand how it works. Seems right now like the offers are limited time, is that correct? Do you ever plan on having any ongoing or long-term offers? That would help a bit more with saving. Otherwise, having off and on offers means using the Perks program to really save will be sporadic at best.

The Ally Perks program is definitely ongoing, Ina. Can you try logging out of Online Banking, clear your cache and login in again? Be sure to let us know if you still are having issues!

Very positive experience so far, but there’s no way to deposit cash? Is Ally working on a solution for this? If I did assume the risk and send cash through the mail, would it be accepted? I hope that Ally will continue to provide the same great rates and level of customer service no matter what happens with its ownership and corporate structure going forward.

Hi, I just signed up for a Checking account and when I go to “Ally Perks” all I see is general information on how great the perks are, and how to get them (sign up for a Checking account and order a debit card).
Is the reason I’m not seeing “current offers” or “preferences” because I opened the account under 10 hours ago?

When I try to “Block” the retailers that I don’t want Perks from any longer, it doesn’t actually do anything. They are still listed there and under the “Preferences”, it doesn’t show any blocked retailers.
