We’ve received many questions from our customers about when they can expect a mobile banking solution from Ally Bank. Today, we’re excited to share an update: Ally Mobile Banking is currently in testing and is targeted to launch in April.
We’re also very excited to share some screenshots of Ally Mobile Banking, to give you a preview of how it will look.
Although April is later than we’d hoped to get Ally Mobile Banking out to our community, our primary concern is to make sure that our mobile solution handles your finances in a safe, secure manner.
The first release of Ally Mobile Banking will include several features that already make Allybank.com great, including account activity history, details on your accrued interest and how long you’ll have to wait to reach an Ally Bank representative by phone.
As we mentioned in an earlier post, Ally Mobile Banking will roll out in phases during 2012. Our first release will include:
- Apps for iPhone and Android smartphones that let you check your balance, search your transaction history, move money among your Ally Bank accounts – and find nearby ATMs and cash-back locations.
- A mobile-optimized banking experience for browsers on any internet-enabled smartphone, including BlackBerry and Windows
- An additional ATM and cash-back locator app for Ally Bank customers – and anyone else, in fact – who use iPhone and Android smartphones.
And later this year, we will add even more features to Ally Mobile Banking, including Popmoney transfers, Ally eCheck Deposit, electronic Bill-Pay and more.
Be sure to watch the Straight Talk Blog and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates on Ally Mobile Banking.

1:29 pm
Please, please bring this to Windows Phone 7.
2:49 pm
Awesome. Using the website on my phone has worked perfectly the few times I’ve needed to access my account. This will definitely be a nice tool to have in the future.
8:11 pm
CANNOT WAIT.
8:27 pm
Very nice! I’ll happily switch from USAA when this is released.
9:12 pm
Will the iPhone app be optimized for the iPad as well?
12:35 am
Looks and sounds awesome, guys. April’s right around the corner…
1:31 am
Thank you for the update. I’ve been waiting for a date to look forward to, but I’m most excited about when the updates for eCheck deposits come out.
7:53 am
So after 2 years of waiting we get a watered down app that can only transfer between Ally accounts and view balances? “Later this year we will add even more features”… yea OK. We all know that “later this year” means “within the next decade, hopefully” when it comes to Ally releasing mobile apps.
9:15 am
Excellent!!
looks fantastic!
3:07 pm
Yes!
3:31 pm
This is the best news of my week. Screen shots look great. Popmoney?
8:17 pm
I really wish the April release would include echeck deposits. That’s the main feature I need!
9:52 am
Not sure why everyone is complaining, sure why I miss using the mobile app at my other bank but I switched for the fact Ally pays the highest intrest and reimburse other banks atm charges. And before someone says it know I do not work for Ally Lol. Just take your time and make sure app works and my money will be secure before you release the app
6:34 pm
We’re very excited about the mobile release too, Ben! We’ll continue to update our Straight Talk blog, so keep an eye out for that!
6:31 pm
I can’t wait!!! I just had a feeling to check this blog today and here it is! As soon as this is out, I’m switching entirely from Chase bank! Thanks, Ally!
7:36 pm
Thanks for your feedback, Tim. We will have the mobile version of Ally eCheck Deposit included in our second rollout. We appreciate your patience.
7:34 pm
Essentially a basic mobile banking app… which I already do all of through my phone’s browser easily. Get back to us when e-deposit for the mobile app is ready.
9:33 pm
Thanks for that, Jim! We’re glad you’re loving Ally, while we work on releasing the mobile apps. Thanks for your patience.
12:33 am
Thanks for the update! Looking forward to the app release!!!
Hopefully a full iPad app will be next!
1:04 am
This is lovely, but eCheck deposit is important, as the current one is nearly unusable. We moved to Ally for the rates (which are dropping month after month!), and hope for things that would be expected from an online bank.
7:01 am
Appreciate the feedback, Matt. Our second mobile rollout will include the mobile version of Ally eCheck Deposit, coming later this year. We appreciate your patience, while we work on getting the mobile apps into the hands of our community. Thanks!
7:05 am
We’re very excited for the mobile apps too, Jake! An iPad version is currently not in the pipeline but we will have a web version of the AllyBank.com site, that you might want to try for your iPad.
9:15 am
We understand your concern and appreciate your feedback, Doug. We will have the mobile version of Ally eCheck Deposit in our second mobile rollout. We’ll continue to update our community as we move towards the second rollout. Thanks for your patience.
9:12 am
This is too little, too late. Where is e-deposit feature? Scanning at home is cumbersome and error-prone. Depositing by mail takes forever. Maybe I should go back to Chase?
6:16 pm
We’ll be sure to let our community know once the apps are released, Kelly! Stay tuned for that!
6:11 pm
Will switch from Chase as soon as this comes out/reviews check out.
9:10 pm
Thanks for the kind words, Caleb! We’re working hard to provide the best app experience for our community. We’ll continue to update our community on our mobile progress
9:08 pm
Finally! You took way too long to get this released though.
Ally has best-in-breed customer service… I sincerely hope the mobile apps’ user experience matches that.
PS – thanks for the screenshots, “…to give you a preview of how it will look”!
Not sure why else you’d post ‘em, but the clarification was nice.
9:30 am
Passing your feedback over to our team here, Josh. Thanks!
9:45 am
We appreciate your feedback, Matt. Our second mobile rollout will include the mobile version of Ally eCheck Deposit. We’ll update our community on our continuing progress for the second rollout. Thanks!
9:23 am
Glad to see the Ally PR department is well represented on the comment board. This is weak. It takes you years to produce an app that lets you check your balance and execute internal transfers only? Also, everyone please note that April is a “target launch” time, not a commitment.
9:42 am
very very lame that the initial release won’t have echeck deposit. That’s all that really matters for an app, is the convenience of depositing checks from your phone instead of the cumbersome process that exists now.
8:30 pm
Thanks for the feedback, Eric! Passing this along to our team over here. If we do implement the recent transactions feature, we’ll be sure to let you know.
8:25 pm
You said that recent transactions are what make your bank great but yet if I make a non pin based transactions it doesn’t show up for a day or so. Do you have plans to make that available online? In order for me to get that info now I have to call customer service. This feature is available to literally every major bank.
4:58 am
I am so excited!!! Cant wait for the iPhone app!!!!!
7:01 am
We’re very excited about our mobile apps too, Evan! Look out fore more updates on our Straight Talk Blog soon.
8:00 pm
We really appreciate your feedback, Nick and want you to know we’re working hard on getting this feature incorporated into the later roll out of Mobile Banking. Thanks for your patience!
7:56 pm
This is very disappointing news – the current eCheck depositing process is terrible and unusable. Mobile banking applications aren’t cutting edge technology, why can’t the initial mobile app include eChecking depositing like other bank’s mobile apps?
11:58 pm
Thanks for understanding and your patience, Roderick. We’ll continue to update our community on our mobile progress. Look out for the updates on our Straight Talk Blog. Thanks again!
11:57 pm
I have been asking for this in the last few months. This not only proves our voices are being heard but ally truly cares about tis customers!
3:58 pm
We’re very sorry for the inconvenience, Linda. Could you email your contact information to allycommunity@ally.com? Thanks!
3:54 pm
While I suppose it’s nice that you’re going to get an iPhone app, How about fixing the Ally.com website FIRST??!! I just opened two new accounts, and am having a VERY frustrating time using your web site. I don’t have any trouble accessing any of my other bank account sites – which include Chase, Citi, BoA, USBank, local credit union, etc! I am using Mac OS Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with Safari 5.1.2. It takes 2-3 tries just to log in. And, then after I’m logged in, if I click on a different tab/section, like Pay Bills, it bounces me out and I have to type my user name/password 2-3 times again to get back in!! It’s very frustrating!! I put in a trouble ticket to the IT dept and waited days for the call back which never came! I finally called and they said that they closed the ticket because they could see I logged in!! Yes, I logged in, but it shouldn’t continually bounce me out and it should take 2-3 tries to get in – EVERY time!! Something is wrong with your site. I even tried Chrome – same thing. Cookies are set to allow, there’s no popup blockers or anything! Like I said, every other bank site works fine!! If they can do it, why can’t Ally??? If you can’t get it to work, I will just have to close the accounts, it’s too frustrating and takes too much of my time just to do simple things!! So instead of working on a new iPhone app (which is a Mac product!!) Why can’t you fix your site AND call me back??!!
11:26 pm
Glad you decided to stay with us here at Ally, Auville! We’re very excited about our mobile apps and we’ll have more updates on our blog as we move closer to launch date. Stay tuned for that!
11:23 pm
It’s about time! I was starting to have a wandering eye for banks with mobile apps!
11:27 pm
Also, don’t care as much about ATM locations, as you reimburse anyhow. I can already get an app that shows me free ATM locations from a third party as well.
10:25 am
Thanks for your feedback, Carl. We’re sorry to see you go and hope you’ll check back with us in the future as we add additional services.
10:13 am
lindanewbie, I also have the same problem. Good (or bad I guess) to know it’s not only me. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t have high hopes for this app working correctly, despite the year long delay.
10:22 am
Check my balance and move money around? That’s it for now? Really?
I understand the phase thing…but I guess I’m surprised that eBills isn’t on the first roll out. And since all ATMs are “free”…not sure why a ATM tracker is needed. Just look for the nearest gas station. Oy. I’m sorry, I’ve tried to stick around but this isn’t working for what I really need – I’m out.
12:58 pm
We’re excited for our upcoming apps too, Ken! Thanks for your patience.
1:25 pm
We understand the anticipation for the mobile eCheck Deposit feature, and we’re looking forward to it, too! Our second mobile rollout will include a mobile eCheck deposit feature, along with PopMoney, electronic Bill Pay and more. Look out for updates on our Straight Talk blog.
1:33 pm
We appreciate your feedback. Passing this along to our team over here. Stay tuned for more updates on our Straight Talk Blog. Thanks!
12:56 pm
Awesome. Guess if your in the business of getting a lot checks, then not as useful.
That’s not me so super excited for the release!
2:20 pm
Thanks for your feedback, Kevin! A Windows Phone 7 is currently not in the pipeline but, we’ll be sure to let you know if that changes.
1:22 pm
I have to agree with everyone else regarding the disappointment in eCheck depositing. I have been waiting for a phone based solution where I can just take a picture of the check and let the deposit happen. Without a physical location to just deposit the check, the alternatives are mail the check in and wait forever, or try to clumsily use a scanner (which I see about 50% rejection rate and I end up having to send the check in anyway – wasting another 2-3 days!). Honestly until there is an EASY deposit solution that actually WORKS, I cannot close my account(s) at other institutions because I need a dependable way to deposit CASH and CHECKS in a timely fashion.
1:32 pm
yeah disappointing to say the least. after 2 years we get a basic app which doesn’t do what we really need it to do. while other institutes are well passed the point of a basic app and already putting out advanced apps and even tablet aware apps we have screen shots of what is to come.
2:16 pm
Any support for Windows Phone 7, please? This phone is more secure and easier to develop for than either the iPhone or Android!
6:57 pm
We appreciate your patience, Candice. We will provide updates for our upcoming rollouts on our Straight Talk Blog. Look out for those!
7:00 pm
We’re excited over here too, Sandeep! Which platform do you plan to download the app for?
6:55 pm
Excited to hear phase 1 is on it’s way, but disappointed nonetheless that e-deposit is not included. This is most certainly what we’re all waiting for. I won’t completely ditch Chase until e-deposit is in place.
6:56 pm
Yaaaay!!! Finally:)
8:59 pm
We appreciate your feedback, Isaac. Passing this along to our team over here. Thanks for sharing!
9:01 pm
You’re very welcome, Patrick! We’ll continue to update our community on our mobile progress. Thanks!
8:47 pm
Glad to see mobile apps, and mobile web are comming! Personally, I was fine just calling, but it’s still nice, and is prefered. Thanks!
8:51 pm
As a rep that works for a major wireless carrier, I would advise creating a Windows Phone 7 app as well. They are picking up market share quickly after a slow start. The Lumia series will surely be a huge hit.
12:26 am
Awesome news…I wish you would have implemented a mobile website in the meantime, but the full site is usable in mobile Safari…
1:45 am
YES! Please make it compatible with my Crackberry
Ally’s fantastic service speaks for itself yet again (if you guys pull this off, which I have no doubt you will) and I have even more ways to work with my money! LOVE it!
Lindanewbie: methinks you need to take advantage of the chat offered every time you log in to Ally… Obviously you’re not using everything you get with Ally, otherwise you’d be having the best baking experience ever.
7:03 am
We’re always looking to add new platforms for our mobile offerings. Should we decide to add a BlackBerry app, we’ll be sure to let you know. However, we will have a mobile optimized AllyBank.com site, that you might want to try for your BlackBerry.
8:36 am
More important than an Android Tablet or iPad app would be updating the Ally website to all HTML5 technology (doesnt use ‘Adobe Flash’). If that was done then the tablet users would not need an app.
Thanks
11:52 am
eCheck deposit on Ally’s website DOES NOT WORK. When will it be fixed?
3:22 pm
What about SMS/text messages/alerts? Those are great features for those of us who don’t have smartphones, but still need to keep an eye on their money every day.
9:20 pm
Sounds like you’re very excited, Kiersten! We can’t wait to get the app into the hands of our community, too!
9:15 pm
Yayyy
9:15 pm
Yippeeee
9:17 pm
Very nice …
9:19 pm
the bill payment system should keep the process payment posted, so we can have an idea which moeny to keep on the account.
7:02 am
Thanks, Jeff! We’re very excited about our mobile apps and mobile optimized site, too!
6:22 pm
I’m really hoping this will be available for the ipad platform as well.
6:25 pm
An iPad app is not currently in the pipeline, Keith. However, there will be a mobile optimized version of AllyBank.com, that you might want to try for your iPad.
7:49 pm
What does it take to become a beta tester?
7:50 pm
We’re not accepting any beta testers, Ash but should that change, we’ll be sure to let you know.
2:45 pm
Main feature I need is check deposit. I hope that they make that a priority
2:49 pm
We understand the need for the mobile eCheck Deposit feature, and we’re looking forward to it, too! Our second mobile rollout is scheduled to include our Ally eCheck Deposit feature, along with PopMoney, electronic Bill Pay and more. Look out for updates on our Straight Talk blog.
8:24 am
I’ve been making echeck deposits with my android for a little while now. So far, I’ve had NO problems with the process. Just take a picture of each side, crop it, and upload it with the browser. I’m not sure what Ally’s stance is with it, but I haven’t heard from them yet, so I guess it’s ok. I upload my checks, and the funds are available in a couple days or so.
I use a Google Nexus S smartphone with a 5MP camera and FireFox. Just make sure the camera isn’t tilted too much or you will warp the image. It doesn’t need to be perfect, since I uploaded one where the right side was a quarter inch lower than the left. But they still accepted it, nonetheless. None of mine were declined since I started.
8:30 am
I’m curious as to what problem people are having with echeck deposit on the desktop. I have had no problems as of yet. One reason could be that people are using the scanner option. If I do it on a desktop, I use a 5MP camera and upload the images manually. From start to finish it takes about 5 minutes. I don’t have a scanner attached to my computer. Let me know whats going wrong with your deposit and I’ll see if I can help.
8:33 am
Thanks for your feedback, Miles. Glad you’re happy with Ally eCheck Deposit feature.
11:55 am
I’m assuming that the url for the mobile site is http://www.ally.mobi
I googled Ally Mobile Site earlier this week and that url popped up in the content ads section.
11:58 am
Very good eye, Gilly. Ally.mobi will continue to be available as a mobile optimized site for checking out our products. We’ll update our community on our upcoming mobile banking apps and mobile optimized banking site. Look out for those.
9:09 am
Gilly-
There’s already a mobile site at that address; there has been for a long time. There just isn’t anything worthwhile there. It’s just promotion.
9:11 am
Appreciate the clarification, Mark. We’ll update our community once the new AllyBank.com mobile optimized site, goes live.
1:02 pm
So excited about this mobile app! No need to go to the computers for banking. YES!
1:05 pm
We’re looking forward to the mobile apps too, Lilly! We’ll continue to update our community on our mobile progress on our Straight Talk Blog. Keep an eye out for that!
4:11 am
Ally becomes my only checking account once eCheck goes live.
7:01 am
We appreciate your patience, Ron. Ally eCheck Deposit for mobile is scheduled to be available in our second rollout. We’ll continue to update our community on our Straight Talk Blog.
8:42 pm
I just spent the last hour and half trying to scan a check to deposit it and it still won’t go through. If you aren’t going to give us echeck deposits right now PLEASE fix the current deposit feature. It makes no sense to me that I can deposit check after check with my phone with Chase but I cannot even deposit my checks with you guys without wasting hours of my day.
8:43 pm
We’re sorry for the inconvenience, Erica. We’re passing your feedback to our team over here. In the meantime, the Ally eCheck Deposit FAQ page might help resolve any issues you may be having: http://bit.ly/sUl6tk
4:13 pm
@Erica I had the same experience. FINALLY, after hours, I got the eCheck tool to accept my paycheck deposit. Then the next day when the money should have posted, I got an email telling me the deposit was rejected because I didn’t endorse the check correctly. BUT I DID endorse it correctly. Somehow their tool accepted it on my end, but cut off my signature on their end. I sent them another scan with the signature by email, but they insisted that I go through the whole process again – to waste hours trying to make their uploader work and then to waste another day waiting to get my money in my account. No thanks! I changed my direct deposit back to ING Direct.
2:18 am
@Natan, eCheck deposit on the Ally website works just fine. You do know that you don’t have to use their scanning tool, you can upload you’re own as well!
8:39 am
Good to know. I’m really waiting for mobile banking from long time.
8:40 am
We appreciate your patience, Vamsi. We’re very excited about the upcoming mobile apps, too!
11:17 am
i like using text messages to find out my current bank balances and get alerts from my other bank accounts. (especially since im not always around atm or computers). I am an ally customer and i hope you guys implement this feature (along with the app), which is especially helpful for users who don’t have data plans on their phones. Thank you for reading and passing on our ideas and concerns!
1:43 pm
@Ally, something I’d like to see in the app would be text alerts: for account balance, when the card is used and the amount, when a card is about to expire, when a transfer is done, if a change is made to my account, etc. Maybe you can pass that on to the developers. Thanks for listening.
12:28 am
@Shawn, it sounds like you work for Ally. The eCheck deposit tool DOES NOT work just fine – go look all around the web at people complaining that it doesn’t work for lots of different reasons.
In my case, I *DID* use my own scanner and uploaded the files. They still rejected them a bunch of times with weird messages like, “too tall or too thin.” After FINALLY getting them to accept the scans, they rejected them a day later.
7:17 pm
When is mobile echeck deposit coming out? Why should I not switch to TIAA Direct instead, which now offers better interest, no ATM fees, AND mobile direct deposit? With no branches, it kills me that you still have no mobile deposit! The scanning method is way too inconvenient!
7:20 pm
We’re sorry for the inconvenience, Peter. We’re passing your feedback along to our team over here. Thanks!
7:30 pm
This is ridiculous! We have been promised mobile banking for months with no set date. Ally seems to be moving the goal post here with no consideration to their customers. This isn’t new technology, other banks have had mobile banking (including mobile deposits) for a long time now. If Ally can’t deliver on their empty promises I will be closing my account and going to a bank that can serve their customers.
7:32 pm
We’re sorry to hear that, Donald and rest assured, we’re working hard on getting the mobile apps into the hands of our community as soon as possible. Thanks for your feedback.
5:33 pm
I can’t scan a check from my computer to deposit it. I dont know what the problem is. I think its a software compatibility problem. I don’t like mailing them off and having to buy stamps.
5:37 pm
We’re sorry for the inconvenience, Andrew. Passing your feedback to our team over here. In the meantime, the Ally eCheck Deposit FAQ page might help resolve any issues you may be having: http://bit.ly/sUl6tk
2:50 am
@Andrew, you don’t have to buy stamps. They’ll mail you postage paid envelopes for free! Though I’m sure the eCheck would be faster and more convenient.
7:01 am
Thanks for your help, Josiah! Really appreciate it over here!
8:01 am
Can’t wait for the mobile app. Yes other banks have had mobile banking for a while now (for you whiners) but those other banks have not (for me anyway) had the level of service that I have experienced with Ally thus far. Thumbs up Ally!
8:05 am
Appreciate your support! We’re anticipating the launch of the mobile apps, too!
3:03 pm
Will all Ally customers get an e-mail when the apps/mobile site go live, or do we have to keep checking in here?
9:22 am
Just to help a few people out there who are ripping out their hair and just can’t wait. There are two solutions to these problems. To check your Ally balance on a smartphone, use an app called Pageonce, useful for keeping up with your bills, and connects directly to your Ally account to keep you updated on your checking and savings accounts. And if you need to get a check into your ally account from your iPhone there is a solution for that too. Use the Paypal app, attach your Paypal account to your bank, and the PayPal app can cash a check up to 1000$ just by taking a picture of it, then transfer it over. It might take a few more business days, buts it’s free and will get you by until the Ally app rolls out.
11:45 am
I’m excited about the eCheck deposit feature, but I also support the idea that you work on it and get it right. I appreciate it when developers and product managers want to take longer to get a product right rather than just rushing it out there and it being a piece of junk to use. Thank you Ally, I’m a new customer and a big fan so far. You don’t do investment stuff. Stay clean, stay simple.
11:48 am
We appreciate your support and patience, Steve. We’ll continue to update our community on our Straight Talk Blog on our mobile progress. Thanks again, we really appreciate it.
4:46 pm
Really, no Windows Phone app? After 3 of my checks were lost in the mail, I’ve really been waiting for an app that will let me deposit checks without mailing them. It seems I’ve been waiting in vain. Please pass on my feedback.
4:50 pm
We appreciate your feedback and understand your concern, Josh. Passing it along to our team over here. Should there be a Windows Phone app in the future, we’ll be sure to post updates on our Straight Talk Blog. Thanks!
8:37 pm
Spamming my app store for the update!
9:15 pm
Its now April where is the iPhone app????
9:20 pm
They are still scheduled to launch during April, Nick . Look out for updates here on the Straight Talk Blog.
1:47 pm
It’s April. Where’s the app you promised?
8:05 pm
Just thought I would point out the obvious that it’s April now. This app should have been out months ago it’s time to release it. This is just getting pathetic now, having to beg an online bank to release a mobile app that many brick and mortar banks have had for years.
8:07 pm
We hear you, Andrew and we’re anticipating the launch of the mobile apps, too! We’re still scheduled to launch the apps in April. We’ll continue to update our community on our mobile progress. Look out for that!
5:54 am
For a bank without branches, this should be a HUGE PRIORITY.
7:01 am
Our Mobile app release is a big priority, Garrick, and we are still on schedule for an April release. We appreciate your feedback.
11:16 am
You’re now entering Q2 of 2012, you should look into hiring more developers if you can’t keep this timeline.
11:20 am
We are working to ensure the quality of our mobile apps, Josh, and are on schedule for an April release. Thanks!
7:42 pm
All talk no do!!!!!
10:12 pm
Hey guess what its april… glad to see your new mobile app is going to be released this month. I’m glad it was not released any earlier because it always seems the most wonderful things are always worth waiting for. I’m also glad to see that you’re taking your time in testing and insuring that our personal financial information is secure before releasing. You’re doing a wonderful job!!!
10:16 pm
Thanks for your support, Eric! We’re very excited about the upcoming mobile apps. We’ll continue to update our community on our mobile progress. Look out for those updates!
10:27 am
The vague deadlines for the release of this mobile app are killing me. If you had a firm date, we’d all be excitedly counting down the days until the glorious release–instead, we’re annoyed each day of April that passes without a mobile app.
10:30 am
We understand the anticipation for our mobile apps, Shaun. We’re looking forward to them, too! We’ll be able to provide a date as we get closer to launch. Look out for updates here.
11:12 am
Im not waiting until end of April. If the app doesnt cone out by April 15th, im closing all my accounts.
1:52 pm
@Natan, nope I don’t work for Ally. But the online scan tool has worked flawlessly for my wife and I. We use it on two different computers. Perhaps I’m just lucky that my setup works properly or maybe I know what I’m doing.
1:55 pm
Thanks for sharing this with us, Shawn! We really appreciate it over here.
3:20 pm
Yes, I am impatient for the mobile app, too. But I can understand to some extent why it takes so long: Ally’s interest is much, much better than others. This means they pay more money to the depositor but resultantly have less money to invest in things like mobile apps. Places like Wells Fargo pays no interest, so it’s no surprise they already have the app. Ing, of course, paid great interest and had the app, but now they are Capital One, so it’s not worth banking with them for anything!
3:23 pm
We appreciate your support and understanding. We’re working hard to get the mobile apps launched as soon as possible. Look out for updates here, on our Straight Talk blog. Thanks again!
4:47 pm
After patiently waiting for the android app like so many people have, I have been keeping tabs on this blog.
Every time that I look, the blog get’s longer and longer with no release date in sight. Users can’t help but get upset.
I even called for another reason and the rep told me she thought it was going to be the 28th of March. [BTW: Ally phone customer service is exceptional!]
I realize why so many people are upset. Most of us are used to having the access to simply deposit from our phones using our old bank’s smart phone app. The other reason is because Ally prematurely announced the upcoming smartphone app without committing to a release date. So, we grow impatient waiting for something that was announced 7 months ago. Also, like so many have pointed out, this technology has been available for a couple years and programming this app doesn’t take 7 months. Let’s be real.
Not only do we have to wait for this app, the app is going to very limited in functionality. So, clearly we feel that Ally is not listening to the community. The last thing are the responses from Ally. Every time I read one, I scratch my head. “Thanks for your concern, we’ll keep you posted” is not Straight Talk like the blog suggests.
It is strange to be with an Online bank that doesn’t do online very well.
As a side note: I submitted my first eCheck for deposit and after reading all of the complaints, I was expecting several hours of pain. However, it was the opposite. Within a few minutes, I was completed with the process. Following the rules of the eCheck process seemed very simple. We will wait and see if my deposit is approved or not.
I really like Ally, it reminds me of my relationship with my Grandma. Very nice and sweet, but doesn’t understand technology.
4:50 pm
We understand your frustration, Shayne. We are working to ensure the quality of our mobile apps and we are on schedule for an April release. Thanks.
5:46 pm
i have dropped ally and switched banks
that are up with the times
good job ally
5:59 pm
We’re sorry to hear that, Brian. We hope you’ll change your mind in the future and come back to us!
10:19 pm
Dropping and switching. Voting with my wallet. Ciao.
10:21 pm
Sorry to hear that, Tom. We hope you reconsider in the future.
11:13 pm
We’re very sorry to hear that, Thiago. If you ever decide to change your mind, let us know.
11:17 pm
I have dropped Ally and went with TIAA-CREF. They have a mobile app and the rates are better.
Thanks Ally but I couldn’t wait any longer.
2:23 am
Oh thank goodness! Finally a launch date (well month anyway). I was beginning to think I had to find a different online bank…. Now if you’d just announce a date for business accounts. Just so I’d at least have a date to look forward to.
2:59 am
It’s April??
7:02 am
Thanks for your patience, Tevya. We’ll provide an update on our mobile progress, as we get closer to launch. As for business accounts, it’s not a product we currently offer, but if we do, we’ll be sure to let you know.
7:02 am
Our mobile apps are still on schedule for an April release. We’ll continue to update our Straight Talk blog with our mobile progress. We’ll let our community know once we go live with the mobile apps.
1:31 pm
I have switched to a bank (tiaa-cref) that has a mobile app and has a better rates.
1:33 pm
We’re sorry to hear that, James. If you change your mind, we’d love to have you back here at Ally.
3:31 pm
no offense, but this is really pathetic. my local CU that i also bank with has had a mobile app for months. they just released mobile deposit via phone app for BOTH android and iphone last week.
we’re going on almost TWO YEARS since people initially started asking for a mobile app, guys. it’s really sad that you still don’t have it ready.
3:33 pm
We certainly understand the need for a mobile app, Matt. We are working to ensure the quality of the app prior to release. We hope you can hang in there with us, as we are still on target for an end of April release.
4:58 pm
I think we have all been patient with waiting on the mobile app. I have a friend that I talked into banking with Ally who now doesn’t use them due to this issue. I am close to leaving myself. Please Ally…release the mobile app sooner than later.
5:00 pm
Sheila, we understand your frustration and we are working very hard to get the apps into the hands of our community. We’re still on schedule to launch the apps in April. Look out for updates soon. Thanks again!
7:19 pm
In an ever growing world of smart phones and Internet, I too have been “patiently” waiting to see ally’s mobile app since I first heard about it a few months ago when I joined. First though, the app is borderline useless to me because apparently if you overdraft even once your echeck deposit rights are removed for roughly six months. Not sure exactly why my echeck rights are removed because the banks allow a transaction for more then the available balance. Last I checked withdrawals/debits weren’t anything close to deposits. But I’m just a customer right? Not like my satisfaction is important or anything.
7:21 pm
Appreciate your response, Rafrantz. We’re passing this along to our team over here and we’ll have someone contact you to review and discuss your concerns. Thanks!
9:42 pm
SOO LONG ALLY!!
9:45 pm
We’re sorry to hear that, Travus. If you ever change your mind, we hope that you’ll come back.
1:56 pm
I have also decided to go with another ebank due to complications with your online depositing features and no mobile depositing.
Sorry
2:00 pm
We appreciate your feedback and sorry to hear you go, Max. If you ever change your mind, we’d love to have you back here at Ally.
5:22 pm
How many customers do you have to loose before you will listen to us?
5:25 pm
We understand your frustration and we are working very hard to get the apps into the hands of our community, Nick. We’re still on schedule to launch the apps in April. Look out for updates soon. Thanks again!
5:44 pm
This is very disappointing, especially considering Ally is not building this system from the ground up. It should not take this long to make an mobile app, especially considering the function has already been developed by Ensenta, the company Ally uses to process check scans.
This is from Ensenta’s web site, “Our Mobile Banking partners use Ensenta’s SDK (Software Development Kit) to create a highly integrated, secure, end-to-end image deposit solution.”
The feature is already built and ready. Ally just needs to Creare an app and integrate Ensenta’s mobile banking code.
This initial rollout adds functionality that I can ALREADY GET USING THEIR WEBSITE ON MY PHONE!!!
Very few people care about these features, We ALL want e-deposit on out phones. I think most people would have been a lot happier if the initial rollout only had e-check deposit and the rest came later in the year.
5:49 pm
Ensenta is bringing its best of breed Agile Risk Management tools to the mobile deposit arena through partnerships with Mitek, the gold standard for mobile deposits and a select group of Mobile Banking providers. Mobile remote deposit capture, using camera equipped smartphones to take pictures of a check, provides a “killer app” and a competitive “must have.” Our mobile deposit service is tightly integrated with our other remote deposit channels, so account holders can choose which deposit method works best for them.
Ally is not providing it’s customers with a “must have” feature or a “killer app.”
5:56 pm
Our mobile apps are still on schedule for an April release, Taylor. The Ally eCheck Deposit feature is scheduled to be available during our second mobile launch. We’ll continue to update our Straight Talk blog on our mobile progress.
6:17 pm
just deposited my paycheck today in my local CU account, using their mobile deposit from my phone (that i mentioned a few comments above)…
process took about 30 seconds. money was in my account and available to me less than an hour later.
echeck deposit, while it works, is tedious. requires a scanner. takes 5-10 minutes. and money doesn’t post to the account until midnight the next day, isn’t available for two business days.
i’m still here because i love the ability to get money from any ATM and never have to worry about fees, ever. but at this point, i’m very, very close to ditching ally as well. your inability to get this off the ground (while i’d say a majority of banks and credit unions, even smaller ones, already have it available) is startling…
6:20 pm
We’re very glad to still have you here at Ally, Matt and appreciate your feedback. Our team is working hard to get the apps into the hands of our community. We’ll continue to provide updates on our mobile progress, on the Straight Talk Blog.
4:32 pm
It’s April, guys. C’mon! I hope it doesn’t take you another 2-3 years to come out with eCheck deposit feature, otherwise, I’ll be signing up for a TIAA-CREF direct checking account. The only thing that keeps me from doing that currently is their poor interest rate and no free ATM withdrawals anywhere compared to my Ally checking.
4:45 pm
We appreciate your patience, Adrian. We’re happy to have you here at Ally and we’re working hard to launch the mobile apps, as soon as possible. Thanks for your feedback and your patience.
7:37 pm
anyone want to bet that “later this year” for adding eCheck deposit will end up being late december?
7:40 pm
While we don’t have an exact date, we’re working on the apps to get them into the hands of our community as soon as possible, Matt. Look out for updates on the second mobile rollout on our Straight Talk Blog.
7:51 pm
Im very happy that you guys are developing an APP.Im waiting patiently.
7:55 pm
Thanks for your patience, Twanna. We’ll update our community on an exact date as we get closer to launch. Thanks, again!
2:40 am
how is that a financial institution can make an app that all others institutions already have long time ago by the way….. by being a internet base bank Ally should have had the app before anyone else….. by the time they release the app the other banks will have something better…..again…… come on…. lots of people are getting tired of the delay…..
1:36 pm
Why is this taking so long? It’s April now, and there’s no update on a specific launch date. You’re an Internet company, this should have been done 6 months ago. Tiny banks all over the country have been able to do what can’t. I’m definitely leaving ally for ING if Ally doesn’t have an app by mid month.
1:40 pm
We appreciate your patience and feedback, Cole. We want to ensure the quality of our app prior to release and we’re still scheduled to release the apps in April. Look out for updates on the Straight Talk Blog.
4:23 pm
This is great to see, honestly once you roll out the ability to deposit checks via the website I will oficially close my Chase Bank account and use Ally exclusively (I work overseas, but get paid in US dollars so being able to deposit money orders via an iPhone/iPad app is a non-negotiable need for me).
Cheers
4:25 pm
We appreciate your patience, Sean. Our first mobile rollout is still scheduled to release in April, while the second mobile rollout with remote Ally eCheck Deposit feature, is scheduled to release later this year.
5:51 pm
why can’t i find the app anywhere?!
5:55 pm
The Ally mobile apps have not yet launched, Nathan. The first mobile rollout is scheduled to go live in April. Look out for updates on our Straight Talk Blog.
7:01 pm
We hear you, Rafa and we’re working with our team to get the mobile apps launched as soon as possible. We’ll continue to update our community. Stay tuned!
6:25 am
This app is now officially a huge joke. Small hometown banks have apps while ally continues to dawdle.
2:29 pm
We appreciate your patience, Wes. Our mobile apps are still scheduled to launch this month. Stay tuned for updates on our Straight Talk Blog.
4:25 pm
…and the peasants rejoice!
(on having a mobile app)
8:54 pm
If I read we are on track for an April release one more time I’m leaving ally. It’s April. Time to give a day. I develop for mobile u would know a date by now if you are really launching in April. So admit it. It’s not coming out in April. Give it to us straight this time.
9:00 pm
We understand your frustration, Sam but we are still scheduled to launch the apps in late April. Our Straight Talk Blog will have updates on our mobile progress. Thanks for your patience.
9:36 am
When you do finally make eDeposit available on the app, please make sure that it is easy to use. That would be in stark contrast to your current web-based eDeposit. I have made eDeposits using many different services, and Ally’s is the only one with which I have chronic difficulties. The problem is not that your users don’t know how do it, so please don’t refer me the to FAQs. The problem is that the application is inferior. It is the only thing keeping me from making Ally my primary bank.
9:38 am
We appreciate your feedback, George. We’re looking to improve the Ally eCheck Deposit feature and feedback like yours will help in that process. Thanks!
11:08 am
Wow…… Seriously disappointed. Don’t get me wrong I’m not jumping the gun on leaving ally … But to see that the app is not released yet is very disheartening. Now secondly the fact that I won’t be able to eCheck deposit when you do release the app is another major upset. Question for ally will the ability to make external transfers out/in be available thru the App?? Or will it be just basically a read only version of the regular site?
11:10 am
We understand, Santiago and we’re working hard to get the apps into the hands of our community. The mobile apps are still slated to launch in April. The ability to make external transfers is scheduled to be included in our second mobile rollout, along with Ally eCheck Deposit. Stay tuned for more updates on our blog.
4:06 pm
Tic Toc
8:10 pm
The mobile apps are scheduled to be released in April, Aaron. We’re still on schedule and will have more updates for our community on our Straight Talk Blog. Stay tuned.
10:08 pm
Wheres the freaking app?
10:20 pm
Will there be an app for Blackberry? With all the bad guys on the internet, I could not see using a mobile banking app on anything other then the solid security of the Blackberry platform.
10:23 pm
A BlackBerry app is currently not in the pipeline, Jim. Should that change, we’ll be sure to let you know
4:15 am
Just to post from a developers point of view. There is a time line you have to follow. Things must be approved then tested then revised then tested till a stable release is effective. From allys stand point. To keep the cost to us clients low and provide great service the more then likely did not employ a lot of developers for this. So please be just wait for it and enjoy the service. I do and will.
7:01 am
Thanks for your support and understanding, Yoshi. We’re working hard to get the apps into the hands of our community as soon as possible. Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming mobile apps.
10:35 am
wheres the app? wheres my “ALLY” when i need it???
10:46 am
When is this app coming out on the adroid marketplace.
10:49 am
The Android app is on schedule to launch at the end of April, Brian. We’ll continue to keep our community in the loop as we get closer to the launch. Thanks for your patience.
5:57 pm
So, you say you’re “on schedule”, yet you can not give us a date of release? That does not make any sense whatsoever.
6:00 pm
The mobile apps are on schedule to launch at the end of April. Look out for updates on our Straight Talk Blog. Thanks!
9:32 pm
what will ally do to compensate its users that have stuck with them through all this when it’s may 1 and we still don’t have an app? just curious…
9:35 pm
We’re extremely happy to have such loyal fans and followers, Matt. We’re working to get the apps into their hands as soon as possible. We’ll continue to provide updates as we get closer to the launch of the mobile apps. Thanks for your patience.
10:19 pm
Watch it be April of 2013…really disapointing Ally. All of these bad comments can’t be good for business, can it?
10:21 pm
We’re still on schedule for an end of April launch, Michael. We’ll continue to update our community on our Straight Talk Blog. Stay tuned.
7:36 am
I think this is fabulous news. I’ve been really excited for all of these changes.
I’m just sorry that there are so many impatient and demanding people out there with such negative attitudes. It’s a shame to see so many people become upset because a listed feature of a later roll out isn’t coming immediately on first release. BofA still doesn’t have this feature, and they have had a mobile site/app for years. It is obviously something that takes time and resources. Not only so, but there should be a certain amount of awareness involved when you sign up for an Internet bank. Ally is very straightforward about the methods of deposits available to its customers. If mailing in the odd personal check is too slow for you if you don’t own a scanner— or if for some reason the bulk of income is paper checks, and you can’t imagine scanning them in all day, then why sign up with an Internet-based bank that has clearly stated that those are its two possible solutions to your stated problem? The advantages of a brick and mortar institution shouldn’t be lost on you. Let the technology you use for income guide the one you choose for financial management. If you insist upon using centuries-old methods, should recognize that you are immediately strapping on a huge limitation to the services you make available to yourself, and should stop creating expectations for the world to compensate for your technological stagnation.
While this blog has mentioned leanings toward a mobile app, the bank never made an express promise to that effect when you initially created your account.
Also, regarding users with login issues; I am a Mac user also, and I have never had an issue visiting the ally website on any Mac in my home, on my iPhone, or one of the over 100 Apple computers I might use at work. If there is something wrong with ally’s website, it’s very likely due to a unique setting on your computer. The words “unique” and “your” make it a very difficult problem for their web developers to test for. Be that as it may, I might suggest trying to login on a different computer, perhaps of a trusted friend, or even at your local library. Most browsers now have a browsing privacy feature you can use that will not recall page history, usernames, and passwords, should you be concerned about identity security. I have used this in the aforementioned situations and still have not had issues accessing ally.com and using its services. At least then you can see if it’s your account that’s the problem, or your computer, rather than blaming the bank for your problem.
No, I don’t work for Ally. The people who work at Ally are far too kind and tolerant of whiny account holders to ever write anything with nearly as much candor as this missive.
7:38 am
Thanks for your support, Oenonie. We appreciate your understanding and we’ll pass your feedback to our team over here. Thank you again!
9:06 am
Ok, it’s April 2012, my Blackberry is drooling in anticipation for the mobile app, where is it????
9:08 am
A Blackberry app is currently not in the pipeline, Samm. But should that change in the future, we’ll be sure to let you know.
12:26 pm
I was advised the phase 1 app will be launched this weekend!
12:30 pm
Tom, Ally is releasing mobile banking to a small group of employees as a final quality check step and our plans are still on track to have it in the hands of our customers by the end of April. We appreciate your patience.
12:20 pm
It’s now mid april looks like ally is going to bail on there promise to get us an app in april.
12:23 pm
Our mobile apps are still scheduled to launch in late April, Nick. We’ll have a set date as we get close to the launch of the apps. Stay tuned!
12:40 pm
Seeing as how they did some serious maintenance on the website yesterday, and that we had to agree to new terms for accessing a mobile site, I feel they are very close to releasing the mobile app and website.
12:42 pm
We’re still on schedule to launch the apps in April, Max. We’ll continue to update our community as we get closer to the launch. Stay tuned.
6:23 pm
Disappointed with Ally. Mid-April and nothing said since March 1st. I am sick of waiting for signs, I want my ally, Ally Bank to talk to me. When will I get my app Ally? Do you want to make an enemy? If I don’t get my app soon, I will take my money else where.
6:26 pm
We understand your frustration, Michael, but we’re still on schedule to launch the apps in April. We’ll have a set date as we get closer to launching the apps. Stay tuned!
11:13 am
I hope this app is released very soon. Ever since your website was down for maintenance over the weekend, I can no longer use my phone to access your website. I get an error message stating page cannot load due to too many redirects occurred.
11:15 am
The website should be working just fine now, Shane. Let us know if you’re still having issues.
1:18 pm
It’s mid April. If they don’t know enough to pink a launch date and communicate it out then they are scrambling to get things ready still. Odds on them missing April and apologizing along the lines of:
“Ally wants to ensure that we are providing the best possible experience for our customers in a secure, easy to use mobile app…… Blah … Blah…. Blah…”
1:21 pm
We’re still on schedule for an end of April launch, Chris. We’ll provide a launch date as we get closer to the release. Look out for an update on our blog
1:47 pm
Some of the comments on here are just absurd. You people are dropping a wonderful bank because of lack of a mobile app? The website works fine in the Android browser. And whoever said eCheck deposit takes 10+ minutes was flat out wrong and they say it requires a scanner…no kidding it requires a scanner. How the heck else are you going to submit it? The depositing applet needs to interface with the imaging device directly for security purposes.
1:51 pm
Appreciate your support, James. We’re working hard to get the apps launched as soon as possible and we’ll continue to update our community. Thanks again for your feedback.
3:42 pm
Hi Ally, I’d like to say thank you for actually responding to people’s requests for status updates. I too am eager to see the mobile app show up soon and have been very happy to see all the assurances that the project hasn’t been dropped. Customer service is a high priority for you, and it shows; thank you, again!
3:45 pm
Thanks for the kind words, Denali. We’re extremely proud of our customer service team over here and we take our customer’s feedback very seriously.
5:20 pm
Kind of disappointed we’ll have to wait until the end of the year for a good eCheck deposit system. The current one of using a scanner is just not good at all. Checks aren’t being recognized after 6 or 7 tries.
Had to finally scan the checks as JPGs and submit them manually. Hopefully the mobile app’s system will be a lot more reliable.
5:23 pm
Thanks for your feedback, Kevin. We’re sorry for the inconvenience you have encountered with our Ally eCheck Deposit feature; our call center is available 24/7 and would be happy to assist you. We’ll continue to provide updates on our blog regarding the second mobile rollout which is scheduled to include Ally eCheck Deposit. Stay tuned.
8:23 pm
Good luck with the Ally app launch this month. I am a newer customer and was frankly shocked at the lack of technology available at my new bank. While the reasonable fee structure and solid interest rates Ally offers lead the competition, they have made a huge error by not keeping pace with the industry in terms of mobile banking.
I hope that Ally realizes by now that getting their mobile strategy right is a critical element to its long term success and that Ally sees and acts on the high level of customer frustration related to the slow progress of delivering mobile solutions…..including mobile bill pay, tablet app, click and deposit (the scan and deposit function is rediculous).
8:24 pm
We appreciate your feedback, Jason! Passing this along to our team over here. Your feedback will help us improve our services and better serve our customers. Thank you!
10:15 am
Since this past Saturday, Safari (I-Pad) will not connect to Ally login, which it did previously. Will this be corrected?
10:17 am
The website should be working just fine, Ron. Be sure to clear your cache. Let us know if you’re still having any issues logging onto the AllyBank.com website. Thanks
4:12 pm
It’s April 17th folks – still on track for release within two weeks?
4:15 pm
We are still on schedule to launch the mobile apps in April, Tim! Look out for an update on the Straight Talk blog as we get closer to launch.
6:18 pm
Are you still legitimately planning on launching this month? I understand that there are still a few weeks left in April, but it would be nice to know if it is going to happen in April or if were gonna have to wait longer.
6:21 pm
We are still on schedule for an April release, Robert. We will update our community with a set date as we get closer to launch.
3:37 pm
My $85 A/C thermostat has an iPhone app… I can adjust the temperature, schedule, view filter replacement indicators, etc… I see you can even get a darn garage door opener app now. you guys have been giving these canned responses “comming soon” for way longer than what i consider soon!! This is what we have to look forward too? technology deficient internet banking that even my rural local branch bank can provide. I see this being the case for all your future rollouts. you guys are so far behind times at this rate you’ll never catch up. i’m just tired of the canned responses on these lists and when i call in… no help, just statements like “I apologize for your inconvenience” followed by no action. I’m switching back to my “now” high tech local bank who will actually make provisions to help and give me straight dependable answers.
3:40 pm
Appreciate your feedback and we’re sorry to hear you’re leaving, Dwane. We are working hard to get the apps into the hands of our community by the end of April. If you decide to change your mind, we’d love to have you back here at Ally.
4:22 pm
Can’t wait!
4:25 pm
We’re very excited about the upcoming mobile apps too, Johnny! Look out for mobile updates on our Straight Talk blog. Thanks!
10:44 pm
If you don’t release this in April, I am switching banks.
10:45 pm
Chris, we’re on schedule to launch it by end of April. Stay tuned!
1:23 am
There are 11 days left in April. Still no go live date. Smart money on not April release.
12:07 pm
I am very disappointed with Ally regarding this mobile app issue. At this time, a reliable mobile banking app is no longer an “additional” feature, it is something that customers expect to already be available. Ally was a bank I thought was looking towards the future of banking when I joined, but it is hard to still think that now. Had the app been released in early 2011, I could still believe this. Had it been released from mid to late 2011, I would have at least thought Ally was on par with other banks. But to wait until mid 2012 to release an app with the basic features, it feel like Ally is far behind the curve. Then making customers wait even longer for eCheck deposit is astounding to me.
On top of this, I find the customer service on the mobile issue very troubling. I used to find Ally customer service very impressive. However, in regards to the mobile app it has been anything but. Updates as to the status of the app have been few and far between, and the responses to the comments are all non-committal answers that amount to little more than “please wait longer.”
I don’t want to sound too harsh because I understand there can be delays in development and things don’t always go on schedule. My point is that it feels like Ally has botched this entire issue. It feels like they did not start developing an app soon enough, development issues caused it to be delayed for far too long, and all communication with the customer has been frustrating. It has caused me to lose some of the confidence I had in the bank when I joined, and I know I am not the only one who feels this way based on what I have been reading. I hope someone at Ally reads this and realizes that as a company it will have to play some serious catch up to get that confidence back. Because if it doesn’t, I will have to find another bank.
12:10 pm
We appreciate your feedback, Ben. We updated our community on the status of our upcoming mobile apps. It’s currently in employee beta testing and we’re still on schedule for an April launch. More info for you here: http://on.fb.me/HZ7koS
4:42 am
It looks like its coming at the end of april. While note a HUGE deal for me, I think its silly that and on-line bank doesnt have an on-line app for mobile devices. Simple really – no app in 11 days, no longer a customer of ally bank.
http://community.ally.com/straight-talk/2011/10/ally-mobile-banking-answering-your-questions/
7:01 am
We’re still on schedule for an end of April release, Chris. Look out for more updates soon. Thanks for your patience.
7:02 am
We hear you, Jeff and appreciate your patience. Look out for an update on our mobile launch on the Straight Talk blog. Thanks.
10:06 am
It is not my I-pad that has the issue with Safari. Four other people have the same problem atttempting logon through Safari with their I-Pad. I bank with B of A, Charles Schwab, and American Express without any problems loging in. This situation started last Saturday when your web site went down for maintence.
This is an Ally problem that must be corrected very soon!
11:36 am
I would like to place a wager with some people with 2:1 odds that this will not be released in April. This app will most likely be released in the fourth quarter
11:40 am
We’re working hard to get the apps into the hands of community as soon as possible, Robyn. We are still on schedule to launch by the end of April. Stay tuned for more updates on our Straight Talk Blog.
12:56 pm
I’m excited about the end of April launch. Thanks for finally locking down a release date. Even just the ability to check balances quickly and easily will be useful.
I agree with others that this is an absurdly late release. An online-only bank should be a leader in mobile apps — Period. But, better late than never…
1:00 pm
Thanks for your support, Michael. We’re very excited about the mobile apps and looking forward to getting them into the hands of our community. Stay tuned for more updates.
1:39 pm
Okay, enough of the vague timetable. By definition, being vague IS NOT a timetable. It’s avoiding a straight answer.
Will this roll out in April as previously disclosed or not?
Oh, one other point – if you’re an online ONLY bank, NEVER, EVER take your system down for maintenance during daytime hours. Do it from midnight to 6AM like any other company.
1:41 pm
We appreciate your feedback and we’re passing it along to our team. We are still on target for end of April. Look out for updates on our Straight Talk Blog. Thanks!
4:25 pm
I’m another customer that will be switching if Ally does not release a mobile app at the end of April. At this moment there is another app on my phone that can actually check my Ally balance for me! I would love to see Ally explain how a 3rd party app can do this but Ally hasn’t released ANYTHING!
4:30 pm
We appreciate your patience, Graham. We’ll update our community on the launch. We’re still on schedule for an end of April mobile release. Stay tuned!
7:13 pm
10 days….
1:57 am
I agree with sick of waiting.
10:16 am
Problem corrected!
How laughable that there are some people who say they will switch banks if the new mobile app does not appear immediately.
If you switch, it will be at a cost!
It’s a shame to waste youth on the young!
10:19 am
Appreciate your support, Ron. We’re looking forward to getting the mobile apps into the hands of our community. Thanks again!
5:11 pm
I’ve been waitign for MONTHS to open an online savings. If your app is not out by next Friday I will go to American Express. I’d mirror everyone else’s fedback about how absurd it is an ONLINE ONLY bank is not leading the way in technology but that would just be wasting my time. My current bank Chase has an AMAZING iPhone/iPad app as well as American Express for my credit card. C’mon Ally your dropping the ball ALOT here and alot of people are going to leave as well as give the worst form of advertisement, bad word of mouth if you do not step it up and become a leader in your industry.
(insert automated response from Ally robot)
5:15 pm
We appreciate your thoughts and understand your frustration, Kyle. The Ally Bank mobile apps are still on schedule for an end of April release. We’ll have an update for our community soon.
8:24 pm
It would like to think that this app will be awesome once it’s finally released. I am almost expecting mobile deposit to be included. But I guess that is just wishful thinking on my part. Ally I have loved the bank since signed up late last year. But I am sure glad that I have not let go of my Wells Fargo acct yet. Why you say, because they have mobile banking.
8:29 pm
Appreciate your patience, Kenya. We’re working hard to launch the apps as soon as possible. We’re still on schedule for an end of April release. Look out for updates on our blog.
9:13 am
That awkward moment when there’s a week left in April but no sign of the app.
9:16 am
We understand your concern, Sam but we’re on schedule to launch the apps at the end of April.
10:52 am
We’re aware of that, John and thanks for the heads up. We’ll have an update for our community soon. Thanks!
11:50 am
I hope Ally realizes that it takes about 10 days to get an app submitted and approved by Apple for release on the iPhone app store! If they haven’t submitted it yet, then they’re going to miss their release date just from that!
12:30 pm
@Sam: I was just going to make a similar comment. I’m champing at the bit here.
3:45 pm
I am waiting.
3:48 pm
We hear you, Robert and we’re working hard to get the apps launched by the end of April! Stay tuned!
7:08 pm
smh @ ally
get us Ally ATMs for quicker better deposits.. Like how CHASE has ATMs all over Brooklyn and Manhattan.. no banks just ATMs
7:10 pm
Thanks for your feedback, Ginger. We currently don’t have any plans for ATM locations but you can deposit checks using the Ally eCheck Deposit feature. More info for you here: http://bit.ly/govM1p
7:05 am
Im sure ally is working on the app but i really doubt it will be ready by 6-7 days left. Seeing as there is no official announcement, no announcement of app submission waiting approval.
7:06 am
As we noted a week ago on our blog, the app is in the hands of a group of employees as a final quality check step and our plans are still on track to have it in the hands of our community by the end of April. We appreciate your patience
9:35 am
4 business days left in April and still no iPhone app. I’m not the most optimistic person, but I’m not a pessimist either. Sorry, but I have a really hard time understanding how an on-line bank claiming to be better than the ‘brick-and-mortar” competitors fails to have something like smartphone banking apps at the forefront of their business model.
I would assume the majority of your customers fall into the under-40 crowd, so using a phone for everything is critical. Having an app for iPhone and Android is a MUST. Please, pleasantly surprise us with a FIRM RELEASE DATE!!! With 4 business days left in the month, and a promised April release date, Ally should be able to tell the customers what’s going on honestly.
10:38 am
If its not out by the end of April I’m done with Ally!
10:40 am
We’re sorry to hear that, Mike. The apps are in the hands of our internal beta testers, so we’re very close to launch. Stay tuned!
12:55 pm
Just joined with ally about a month ago. Didn’t realize they didn’t have an app or even a mobile website yet. Guess I should have checked that ahead of time, though it didn’t really cross my mind that an online-only bank wouldn’t have that a long time ago…
12:57 pm
We’re happy to have you here at Ally, Liz! Our mobile apps and a mobile optimized banking website are very close to launch. These new mobile offerings are in the hands of an employee group as part of our last quality check. We’ll have an update for our community once the apps and new mobile banking website go live. Look out for the update on our Straight Talk blog.
1:03 pm
The automated responses of “We appreciate your thoughts and understand your frustration” and “we’re on schedule” without ANY useful information is becoming as frustrating as the lack of an app itself. My favorite is “We’ll update our community on an exact date as we get closer to launch”. Now we should be pretty close to launch an hmmmmm no update. I love how the ONLY feedback from Ally is canned fluff yet they somehow call this the straight talk blog. Prove it to us. We have stuck with you patiently and we have earned some actual straight talk. What step of the app are you in? (development, testing, submitted…..) Show us that you actually are different from the other banks and give us the “straight talk” you advertise.
1:05 pm
Jared, we posted an update about week ago on our blog, that the app is in the hands of a group of employees as a final quality check step and our plans are still on track to have it in the hands of our community by the end of April. We appreciate your patience
2:03 pm
awesome!!!!
2:08 pm
We’re very excited too, Jesus! Stay tuned for an update!
5:25 pm
This waiting is rediculous. I am going to start looking into other banks. Chase has been building stores all over so I may go in that direction.
5:28 pm
The apps are in the hands of a group of employees as a final quality check step and our plans are still on track to have it in the hands of our community by the end of April. We appreciate your patience
10:58 pm
Yep still waiting. I am looking into ING to night i hear that they have an app.
11:00 pm
By when it does come out I will be rating it a 1 star because it took so long.
11:24 pm
I have my doubts that this app will be ready in April and I agree with EVERYONE that it should have been out a LONG time ago. The worst part, however, is that the app will be quite useless. I can check my balance with my phone’s browser… what I need is online deposit and that won’t even be included in the app! I know it’s planned for a future release but with your track record I’m not expecting it before late 2013…
8:19 am
Here I am 25 days into April still nothing…. It is the end of April and we don’t have an announcement as to what date I can expect the app store … How much sooner till the “launch date” could you possibly wait!?
10:13 am
5days left ally hope you have an app by Tuesday
10:47 am
Well, well, well. Here we are at the end of the month and STILL not even a deployment DATE. I am in software and I know for a fact that they are having problems with the vendor or something. Whatever it is there are issues. No April release, my prediction from 4/16:
It’s mid April. If they don’t know enough to pink a launch date and communicate it out then they are scrambling to get things ready still. Odds on them missing April and apologizing along the lines of:
“Ally wants to ensure that we are providing the best possible experience for our customers in a secure, easy to use mobile app…… Blah … Blah…. Blah…”
4:48 pm
end of business, 4/25. next tuesday is may 1. there are exactly THREE business days left in april.
i don’t think you realize just how many customers you’re going to lose when this thing isn’t out by 4/30, but i guess you’re willing to find out. i’ll be one of the first out the door…
11:23 pm
most of you say that you are going to leave ally if you dont get a release date. some of you say yall hate the automated responses. but at the end of the day. you all are still going to stay with ally and keep reading their automated responses. be quite, and just chill. your money aint going nowhere. :p
11:47 pm
AWKWARD
12:37 am
Lol. Where is the ally csr to tell us April.
1:24 am
Still waiting for this app… I’ve got a huge check i want to deposit into an Ally CD, but there’s no way I’m doing it until I know Ally has a mobile app. Tick tock, Ally, tick tock. If there’s not an ally mobile app out by midnight of 4/30 I’m done with Ally for good.
9:07 am
The ING Direct app now has remote deposit. So does their website (scan). I am moving….. see ya Ally!!
11:30 am
While I’m not one of these “the sky is falling with no mobile app!” people, I am a bit frustrated since ING Direct recently updated their (already existing) app to do picture deposits, and Ally is having a hard time even getting their basic app out the door.
I believe a lot of this whining from people is hyperbole though, I mean the online interface for Ally is great and works well with most mobile devices.
1:11 pm
As someone who works in the financial industry, I’m gonna go ahead and guess that Ally is running into some sort of red tape. I don’t think anyone in this thread understands the severity of compliance/regulation issues this entire industry goes through. And I highly doubt that the development team is sitting around, twiddling their thumbs and high fiving each other for being lazy. They’re probably sitting around, waiting for approval from FDIC or something and sweating bullets because their customers are getting understandably anxious, and there’s really nothing they can do.
In the meantime, it’s not exactly a major inconvenience to download Mint or Pageonce and just track your balance/spending from there. You can also open up a Chase account or whatever if you really need the e-Check deposit thing, and then just transfer the money over later.
2:21 pm
C’mon people! It’s only a few days! There’s no need to be impatient. You’ve lasted this long, and I’m pretty sure no one has some incredible dire need for this app. It’s just a thing of convenience. So quit complaining, and get pumped!
5:07 pm
We need a mobile app. All my other small local banks got it. I’ve been with Ally for 2 years now still so hard to access my account on my iphone. What’s going on? This technology is so old and easy to do. I think i’m going to switch bank to a more convenient one because i use my phone more than my PC or laptop now days.
7:06 pm
Let’s get it done guys. It is April 26 already, just barely still in April.
7:08 pm
Wells-Fargo already has an app, you couldn’t be more technically challenged than they are???
7:48 pm
Stop complaining. I wish that those people threatening to leave really would leave. “I’m not getting what I want so I’ll cry about it and then stomp away.” There is no need to act like children. Relax. The world will continue to turn without this app.
7:50 pm
4/26….
12:02 am
Yay! I can check my balance on my phone. Who cares? I know my balance.
I want to deposit checks. With my phone. It’s not like Ally has to invent the technology. We aren’t asking to scan it with our eyes and upload it telepathically. Just with my phone. Which already does the same thing with every other bank in the country.
12:03 am
Thanks for your feedback, Biff. We’ll continue to provide updates on our upcoming Ally eCheck Deposit for mobile, scheduled for later this year.
12:45 am
the app is here search ally mobile banking on the app store or play store
12:46 am
Thanks for lending a hand, Raoul! Really appreciate it!
2:28 am
Mike and Jeremy must work for ally.
7:49 am
The app is now available in the app store, downloading it now.
7:50 am
Let us know how you like the mobile apps, Toby!
8:01 am
The iPhone app is up! Check the app store!
8:02 am
Thanks for helping out our community, Mark! Really appreciate it!
8:30 am
2 More business days and counting before I change to ING. This is crazy!!
8:31 am
The mobile apps are now live, Eric! You can get more information and download the apps here: http://bit.ly/JrMLAq
9:23 am
I just downloaded the app for the iPhone. Love it. Thanks!
9:24 am
Thanks for that, Michael. Glad you’re enjoying the mobile apps.
9:55 am
Apps look good, but they did take quite a lot longer than they should have for what they are. Nonetheless, thanks for making good on your promise.
Please don’t make all of us wait until December or something for mobile check deposit. So many of the people here would be far less upset if you had only taken the time to give everyone solid updates on progress; vague answers only stoke the fire.
I understand that sometimes deadlines and schedules can be hard to estimate, but next time around, just tell us that. You can never make everyone happy, but you can sure alleviate frustration by keeping people in the loop and making us feel like you really do care about our concerns.
Good luck with the next updated rollouts of the apps! I hope that you’ve learned something this first time around and can make the upcoming releases much more pleasant.
11:11 am
I understand your financial situation is getting better, “Ally turns $310M net profit for 1Q”. It seems like your upper management is more interested in survival than growth.
For what its worth, your service is great, website is decent, and you pay great (relative…) interest rates.
Please do a better job of keeping your customers in the loop on the status of the Application or mobile friendly website. This post is the most recent, and its from 45 days ago – announcing a release this month (which ends in 4 days).
11:13 am
Eric, the apps were announced as they were made available on Thursday and Friday via Facebook, Twitter and the Ally Straight Talk Blog. Find details here http://bit.ly/JrMLAq
11:55 am
The app has launched. I just downloaded it for Android. Our “Ally” didn’t even make an announcement after all this wait. I had to learn from another website that it launched. I’m sure the next update will be December 31st.
11:57 am
Earl, the apps were announced as they were made available on Thursday and Friday via Facebook, Twitter and the Ally Straight Talk Blog. Find details at http://bit.ly/JrMLAq
12:21 pm
The application was released finally but only on apple store. The android phone do not have it.
12:23 pm
The mobile apps are available for Android too, John! You can get more information here: http://community.ally.com/straight-talk/2012/05/ally-mobile-banking-is-here/
2:08 pm
The app doesn’t support special characters in passwords. I’m not making my password less secure just to access my account from an app. Why would special characters be supported on the website, but not the app?
2:10 pm
Sorry for the inconvenience, Dan. Currently, our mobile app will not allow the following characters to be used: & ” ‘ /, but all other special characters are supported. In order to utilize the app you will need to log into the website and change your password .
2:24 pm
To all of the people defending Ally (Ally surrogates?) get a grip. These guys have been promising the app for a while and they have failed. Now they are failing yet again. It’s called being a professional and the people at Ally are big boys and girls.
To anyone who questions the importance, it IS important to different people for different reasons. For me, I like to use the debit card instead of a credit card. I want to check my balance and transfer money QUICKLY when I am going to make a purchase. Not having that ability is an inconvenience to me. You may not think so, good for you, but the reason there is a ground swell is because it apparently IS useful to the vast majority of people.
ALLY YOU NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE TODAY, MONDAY IS TOO LATE.
2:26 pm
The mobile apps are already live, Chris and you can check your balance and transfer funds between your Ally Bank accounts. You can get more info here: http://bit.ly/JrMLAq
2:36 pm
Well, a pretty good surprise Ally. Goodjob on the app! Now just hurry up on the improvements.
2:38 pm
We’ll have updates on the second mobile rollout, throughout the year, Hassan! Thanks for kind words!
3:21 pm
Yay!!! The app is up!!! Just opened a high yield savings with Ally 1 week ago – good timing:) LOVE the app too.. it’s purty (lol)
3:23 pm
We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the app, JJ! Thanks for sharing with us!
3:44 pm
Wow they made it.
5:49 pm
This is kind of exciting right? Ally continues to promise an App within the next few days. They’re either going to pull it off, in which case I’ll be thrilled, or they’ll break their promise and I’ll get to watch that debacle. Either way, I win!
5:51 pm
The Ally Bank mobile apps did launch, Seth! You can get more details here: http://bit.ly/IAOcPA
9:05 pm
so where is the Canadian app??
7:24 pm
Congratz Ally, you got it over the line.
7:26 pm
Thanks, Chris!
3:40 pm
I am happy that Ally released its mobile app, but I wonder what the issue was with getting the app out, and why are features like check deposit and transferring funds from a non-ally bank are still missing? USAA and Chase already have these features, and have had it for sometime.
2:47 pm
Not to be negative, but it seems pathetic that it took you this long to develop a mobile app and the one compelling feature — mobile deposit — isn’t even included. An ATM finder seems like a waste of development effort.
5:19 pm
Thanks for the inquiry, Nik. We’re scheduled to add these new features in our second mobile rollout. Stay tuned!
6:34 pm
Appreciate your feedback, Andrew. Passing it along to our team over here.
9:32 pm
Yes!!! finally a mobile app was created! downloading it as we speak.
8:28 am
where is the Canadian app?????
9:28 am
That’s great, Doug! Let us know how you like it!
11:59 am
I am very happy with the iphone app thus far. Worth the wait but would like to see the improvements made in a timely fashion.
3:41 pm
We appreciate that, Brian! Thanks for your support and patience
3:44 pm
The Ally Bank mobile apps are currently only available for US customers. Should that change, we’ll be sure to let you know.
4:21 pm
Love it Ally! Thank you!
3:47 pm
You’re very welcome, Daniela!
10:58 pm
the echeck feature is a BIG disappointment. i have been trying to deposit a check for the past 30 mins and it still won’t accept my check. last month, i tried to deposit for several days before it accepted my check. it is a waste of time. if things won’t improve, i will be switching to a different bank.
10:45 am
We apologize for the inconvenience, Vanessa. Were you given a specific error message? We had a recent post that might be helpful too:
http://community.ally.com/straight-talk/2011/12/ally-echeck-deposit-frequently-asked-questions.
12:35 am
Vanessa is correct. I wasted probably about a total of 4-5 hours between two separate occasions of trying to upload my checks. Both time, no matter what the DPI was, no matter how I cropped it, no matter what I set the set the contrast to, or no matter what the file size was it would simply not upload my checks. I can’t believe this still hasn’t been looked at in that the first time I tried was several months ago and the last I time I tried was a few weeks ago.
Customer service/support could not help either. Don’t offer the feature if it it’s just there for show. It just does nothing but waste the customer’s time and causes frustration.
6:47 am
where is the candian app????????????
5:01 pm
Anyone having issues with mint and ally syncing? Eve since the app, the two will no longer sync. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
5:05 pm
We’re sorry for any inconvenience, Ryan. Sometimes aggregators such as Mint have initial problems when updates are made to our platform but “learn” the changes quickly. Please try again and if you continue to have a problem, the folks at Mint should be able to assist you.
5:30 pm
once again for the 4th time
where is the Canadian app????????????????
5:33 pm
Brian, our current mobile apps are for US customers only. Should we launch an app for our Canadian customers, we’ll be sure to let you know.
2:03 am
When is this second roll out exactly?? Is there a deadline that you are all working towards? I also was misled that there would be an eDeposit that would parallel Chase’s and now after wasting my time I am told alas no.
7:01 am
We currently don’t have an ETA, Tyler, but our team is working hard on the second mobile rollout, which is scheduled to include features such as the Ally eCheck Deposit, Popmoney and more. Continue to look for updates on our Straight Talk Blog as we get closer to launch.
12:57 pm
When will there be a version that is Blackberry compatible?
Thanks!
1:00 pm
Blackberry mobile apps are currently not available, Crystal. We’re always looking to add additional platforms. Should we launch Blackberry mobile apps, we’ll be sure to let our community know.
10:17 am
dont hold your breathe i got rid of ally months ago
when they kept delaying the reales for the app
also funny how they are an online bank and one fo the last to put out a app
and they dont even have it for canadians or blackberry ect….
10:20 am
We appreciate your feedback, Jeff. We’re always looking to improve our services and this will definitely help us in that process. Thanks.
12:24 pm
Still waiting on a deposit by phone for checks. You would assume that Allys mobile app development should take top priority as they are not a traditional brick and mortar bank. Once they implement this feature, I can finally leave my primary bank for good. Until then, my assets are still in limbo. Its getting frustrating that this feature has been “in the works” for about a year now.
By the way, apps such as mint do a great job in reviewing finances. Please don’t toil over utilities that are not necessary so that we can get what we need first. I am sure many other customers will agree.
5:21 pm
The ally app crashes on my Nexus 7 shortly after start-up. When will it be “really” compatible?
7:07 pm
I have the Galaxy SIII and your app doesn’t work, have you guys been working on fixing that issue?
7:09 pm
Thanks for the heads up, Dave. Passing this along to our team over here. We’ll have someone look into this for you.
10:43 am
I second Mike’s input that it crashes on the Nexus 7. I understand the difficulty and differences in developing apps for Android 4.1 and tablets, so I’m not terribly incensed. I’m also sure that you’re working on it already, but in case you aren’t, here’s a second Nexus 7 user confirming the app’s instability on that device!
10:45 am
Thanks for the feedback, Jonathan. This is a known issue and we are expecting a fix later this year. We’ll be sure to let you know when this is resolved.
9:07 pm
The app keeps crashing on the Asus Transformer Infinity 700. Won’t even turn on.
Also Still waiting on check depositing. I know it has been a while in coming, but at least some word on progress, other than later this year would be appreciated by your loyal customers. Thank you.
9:11 pm
Roman, our team is aware of the Android app issue and they’re working on a fix. We’ll have an update for our community soon.
As for the Ally eCheck Deposit feature for mobile, we understand the anticipation for the feature and our team is working hard on including it in the second mobile rollout. We’ll update our community as soon as we can. Stay tuned!
10:31 am
Agree with Michael Owen.
Tried to do the eCheck deposit for the first time today. Followed instructions – however the check was not verified.
VERY frustrating.
I am now taking a photo of the check to deposit, with my CHASE app.
What is the time frame for Ally to join the game in this respect?
10:33 am
Tom, our team is still working on the second mobile rollout, which is expected to include the Ally eCheck Deposit feature for mobile. It’s scheduled to launch within the next few months. We’ll update our community as soon as we’re able to.
12:04 pm
Just deposited a check using the Bank of America app and WOW I really hope the ally app makes it that simple. Picture of front, picture of rear (just had to put “for deposit only” and sign it) and type in the amount, DONE! Way easier than messing around with my scanner.
12:06 pm
Thanks for your feedback, Pete. Passing this along to our team over here. The Ally eCheck Deposit for mobile is expected to be included in our second mobile rollout, scheduled to launch within the next few months. We’ll update our community as soon as we’re able to. Let us know if you have any other questions.
5:33 pm
What is the current status of the second mobile rollout? Really looking forward to eCheck Deposit for mobile…
5:56 pm
Our team is close, Jake. The second mobile rollout is scheduled to launch within the next few months. It is expected to include the Ally eCheck Deposit feature for mobile. We’ll have an update for our community as soon as we’re able to. Stay tuned!
12:14 pm
I’ve been hearing this second mobile rollout has been coming out “over the next few months” since August now. Is it really coming out anytime soon?
I would like to know the real answer or else I’m switching banks finally because this is ridiculous…
12:15 pm
Johnnie, we currently don’t have an ETA on the second mobile rollout but our team is working hard on them. We’re looking to get the second mobile rollout into the hands of our community as soon as we’re able to. Stay tuned for updates on our Straight Talk blog.
10:03 pm
Ok so a lot of people are asking about the eCheck Deposit feature which I hope comes out soon but what about the ability to pay our bill pays on the mobile app. Also any ETA for a iPad version of the app? If y’all get these three features up & going I think a lot of people will be happy!
7:01 am
Dylan, both the Ally eCheck Deposit feature and Bill Pay will be included in our updated mobile app which is scheduled to go live later this month. You can read more about it here: http://bit.ly/PrY8wN. As for an iPad app, it’s currently not in the pipeline but should that change, we’ll be sure to let you know. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks for your support and patience.

I was going to install your app until I became aware of the fact that it runs continuously and that it demands permissions which are extremely invasive of users’ privacy, for no good discernible reason. Primarily, my concerns are in these areas: The App can (a) Read, store & share users’ stored contacts; (b) Monitor calls (determine the phone number and device IDs, whether a call is active, and the remote number connected by a call); (c) Read, store & share users’ call logs; (d) Take pictures and videos at any time without users’ prior confirmation or consent. Of secondary concern is the app’s ability to constantly determine and track users’ location. As I said above, I can think of no good reason why your application should require such abilities. Therefore, I decided to NOT install it on my Android device. I am very disappointed in that I cannot comfortably use Ally Mobile Banking, and am very concerned about the trust issues that this gives rise to…
9:02 pm
No iPad app? It can’t be at difficult or expensive. Should make it happen!
7:08 pm
Thanks for the feedback, Jim. We’ll pass it along to our team.
2:31 am
Just opened an account this Sunday and not happy with the echeck deposit via the app. Gives me error 102 every time i get to submitting the check images and crashes the app. I spoke to customer service and they promised to get back but haven’t in the last 12 hrs. This is very frustrating!
1:37 am
can i just get an app for windows phone 8. I havent heard a thing about this. you are a strictly online bank. if i dont see an update for this that isnt promising. ill be changing banks rather quickly.
10:03 am
We definitely hear you. Unfortunately this is not a feature we currently offer, Jordan. Should that change in the future, we will update the community.
2:48 pm
iPad app please. I use the iPad for most things now and would love an app customized for it like a lot of banks have.
3:00 pm
Need an app for windows phone!
