How do you make a deposit?

Log in to the Ally Mobile App, choose your account and tap “Deposit Checks”. Take the photo of your check in a well-lit location and place it on a dark, non-reflective background. Ensure there are no shadows, and be sure you can see all edges of the check as well as clearly read the routing and account numbers. Enter the check amount, and submit your deposit.

What are the specifications needed for a scanned image?

If you’re scanning your check, make sure it is detached from your checkbook and all four corners are visible. Files must be saved as a JPG (not a PDF) and cannot exceed 1 MB. Minimum resolution is 200 DPI. Ensure all files are converted to color or grayscale.

What do you need to write on the check to ensure your eCheck Deposit is accepted?

You must write these three things on the back of your check:

  • Your signature

  • The phrase “For Mobile Deposit Only”

  • Your account number

Take the photo of your check in a well-lit location and place it on a dark, non-reflective background.

How much money can you deposit with Ally eCheck Deposit?

If you’ve exceeded the eCheck daily or monthly deposit limit, you have the option to mail a check to:

Ally Bank

P.O. Box 13625

Philadelphia, PA 19101-3625

How do you know if your deposit has been accepted?

You will receive an email alert letting you know that we have accepted your check. If you deposit it before 7 p.m. ET, the first $300 of your deposit will appear in your account the next business day, and the remainder (up to $25,000) will be available on the second business day. You’ll see any amount over $25,000 on the fifth business day. For deposits made after 7 p.m. ET, your check will be processed the following business day.

Why is there a hold on your funds after you made an eCheck deposit into your Ally Bank account?

Some of the reasons a hold may be placed could include:

  • We have reason to believe the check may be returned.

  • The check is for more than $25,000.

  • The check was previously deposited and returned unpaid.

  • You have overdrawn your account repeatedly in the last six months.
