Experience the Convenience of Person-to-Person Payments With Popmoney

For much of the last decade, person-to-person payment technology has let bank customers move money directly into one another’s accounts using Internet or mobile phone technology. It’s hard to believe that a little over 10 years ago, this innovation (also known as “P2P”) didn’t exist. But by 2008, 3 billion P2P transactions were made in the United States. Since then, more and more banks have decided that P2P technology is a must-have offering.

This past summer, Ally unveiled Popmoney, a person-to-person payment system. Popmoney is an amazingly easy way for Ally Bank customers to transfer money to anyone with a telephone number or e-mail address. It comes in handy when you’re short on cash but need to reimburse a friend for movie tickets, or need cash to pay the neighbor who mows your lawn. And Popmoney is secure, convenient – and best of all, costs nothing to use.

Customer nicknamed ‘HappyWithAlly’ pointed out on our Ratings and Reviews page just how simple and convenient it is to use. “I love the ease of transferring back and forth between accounts!” they told us.

We’re happy to bring the convenience of P2P technology to all of our Interest Checking, Online Savings and Money Market Account customers. If you’re not yet banking with Ally, Popmoney is just one of many offerings that may make it worth your while to switch.

Have you used Popmoney to send funds to someone? Which of Ally’s services make your life easier?

I haven’t used Popmoney, but PayPal recently introduced the ability to transfer money via NFC on their mobile app. You should add that on your upcoming app too, with Popmoney. :)

Thanks for your comment, Philip! We do have Popmoney transfers in the works to be included in one of our later mobile roll outs next year. Stay tuned!

Where does a Non-Ally person go to use PoPMoney to send “ME” money to my Ally Checking?

In my acct it said they would go to Ally.com to send me money using PoP Money and send to my email or phone number.

But… On the Ally.com website I do not see any where that says PoP Money so someone can send me money.

Where do they go to enter in MY info?

I tried using POP money on my ally mobile app (Android).
The app is very slow and force closes many times, I could see similar reviews by users on the play store. I could observe that this is faced by people with android 4.3 and above. It would be great if Ally could better the mobile app. It is imperative that the mobile App of an online only bank is fast and responsive so that we can have a hassle free time using it!

How do we get people to send us money? I’ve read everything on the PopMoney site but it only references outgoing money from my Ally account, not Incoming transfers from others to reimburse me.

How do I get people to reimburse me and send money to me using PopMoney?

Dad tried to send pop money from another account two days ago and still have not received . It seems like all outside transactions take forever with this bank. Will probably be switching back to a branch bank soon for convenience and to have things done in a timely manner.
